I approached AMS in early 2023 to explore potential migration pathways to Australia. I was contacted by Geeth (Marketing Manager) who confidently arranged a phone consultation with Ms. Dilu (who I later learned is a business partner at the firm/ I never met her in person). After reviewing my educational qualifications and work experience, they recommended an ANZSCO code that unfortunately did not closely align with my actual background. Despite the clear mismatch, they were so confident to proceed with that occupation. This turned out to be a costly and time-consuming mistake that has had a serious impact on my future migration plans. I normally avoid writing negative reviews (as reflected in my Google review history), but I feel it’s important to share my experience so others can make more informed decisions. A negative skills assessment can significantly limit your future opportunities—sometimes permanently. Here are my key concerns: 1. Overpromising during the initial consultation: Geeth claimed that some clients received their visas within four months, which is highly unlikely. He was overly confident about my case without fully assessing the risks. I believe migration advice should be realistic and tailored to each individual. Recommending an occupation that does not match the client’s actual experience is not only risky—it can be damaging. 2. Poor role matching to my background: My professional background is in operations, yet they submitted my application under a retail position—even though my employer is globally recognized for manufacturing. This misalignment led to a negative outcome. I placed my trust in their guidance, especially because they came recommended by a friend. Unfortunately, they lacked the depth of understanding I expected from a migration consultancy. 3. Lack of dedicated case management: After onboarding, Geeth was no longer available. There was no dedicated staff member responsible for handling my file, and communication was inconsistent and frustrating. I had to repeatedly contact different staff members to get updates, and it seemed no one was accountable for seeing my case through to completion. 4. Unclear communication and no accountability: Even when issues arose, I never had the opportunity to speak with Hirosh, who is known to be a business partner and decision-maker. Some of the staff members (who are no more working there) often passed me around, and when I was told to contact Hirosh directly, he did not respond to my calls or messages. All I wanted was to understand what had gone wrong and whether any alternative options were available, but I received no clear support or guidance. 5. Unprofessional internal communication: One staff member, whom I will not name (no more there), shared her own frustrations with the management and some gossips. This was highly unprofessional and raised serious concerns about the company's internal practices. In the end, they submitted an ANZSCO code that was clearly unrelated to my background, resulting in a negative skills assessment. Even after they appealed the decision, VetAssess rejected the application again, stating that my employer was not relevant to the nominated occupation. This could have been easily avoided, as my employer’s global reputation makes their business focus publicly obvious. My advice to others: Please take the time to research and understand your options thoroughly. Consult multiple migration agents before proceeding. Be extremely careful when choosing a consultant, as a single wrong decision—such as applying under an irrelevant occupation—can have lifelong consequences for your migration journey. You might not be able to apply for another skills assessment under a different ANZSCO code, as VetAssess already holds records of your previous attempt. Note: Kavitha was the only staff member I lately dealt with who showed true professionalism, listened carefully, and offered support within her limits. Though Ms. Dilu was polite and professional, I struggled to have confidence in the alternatives she later suggested.
